ICON YACHTS BV CERTIFIES DEDICATED REFIT TEAM

Wednesday , 1 September 2010

Offering unique Large Super Yacht and Commercial Vessel facilities with open water access for yachts up to 160 meter length and 7 metre draft, the yard has already undertaken a number of projects outside the new build sector.

Current work on the completion of the project name Sunbeam is well underway. With a 1,6m transom extension fully engineered and designed by ICON Yachts under the careful eye of the client’s representative and the classification society RINA the launch is scheduled for end of the year 2010.
Sunbeam came to ICON Yachts as a part complete project from a European yacht builder. Thanks to the transom extension developed by the in-house engineering team it features a modern profile shape with a deep bathing platform accessible from the main deck as well as deep storage facilities in the lazarette.
The project reflects the flexibility of the ICON team, maintaining the high yacht building standards also on this full GRP composite project.  Building on the well established and proven ICON quality and work ethic the yard is now offering clients dedicated contact persons for their specific refit, service and maintenance requirements.

Managing Director Jen Wartena:
”It was a logical step to select specifically talented and quality driven personnel to form a dedicated team of experts within ICON, to best serve the very specific and sometimes complex job requirements of a refit.  We are very proud to be able to offer such customer specific services and already are talking to clients with very large projects to complete these here.”

In August 2009 the 122 metre Research Vessel (R/V) Akademik Mstislav Keldysh underwent an extensive equipment modification of the stern deck structure including the fabrication and installation of the custom A-frame crane designed by Navaltec Bv and to Lloyd's approval.  The turn key project contracted by FUGRO Offshore and Marine Services was completed nearly five weeks ahead of schedule and within the agreed budget.

Lodewijk Bos, Project Manager FUGRO comments:
“My colleagues and I very much appreciated the cooperation with Icon Yachts.  Their team proved to be very professional and helpful on board and around the yard.  Faced with unexpected problems, which were plentiful during this project, the yard were prompt and pro-active.  Agreements were adhered to and the project was finalised within the budget and well ahead of schedule.  The Icon team has greatly contributed to the successful commissioning of the Keldysh in her subsequent research mission.”
