Stephan Vitus
Head Project Development

Growing up around boats and sailing, Stephan acquired a passion and affection for yachting that he shares with so many at ICON yachts. 

Aged 17, Stephan gained his first experience of high quality yacht building at the Jongert yard in Medemblik.   An apprenticeship in modern boat building in Germany was followed by completion of a degree in Small Craft Design at the Southampton Institute.  He went on to hold a number of positions with well known yacht builders and consultancy businesses and was involved in prestigious projects such as ‘Velsheda’ and ‘Intuition ll’. 

In 2001 Stephan took on a new and exciting challenge in the world of series production of composite yachts; initially leading the engineering and then in 2005 to move to Florida, spearheading a successful development of ‘European Style’ influenced sail and power boats. 

It was his experience and knowledge of efficient, modular building methods that provided the immediate link to the ICON Yachts team.  Moving back to Europe in 2008 to lead the Technical Design and Engineering team Stephan has recently taken on responsibility for Project Development.
